Ethereal Balance and Functional Wellness

Common questions

Everything people ask me before they start.

If your question is not here, ask me on the free call. There is no such thing as a question that is too basic, and I would rather you understood this properly than agreed to it politely.

It is a conversation, not a sales pitch. You tell me what is going on and what you would like to change, I tell you honestly whether I can help and how I would approach it, and you get to ask me anything. If it is not a fit, I will say so. Either way you will leave with something useful.

No, and I never want to. I am a coach, not a medical provider. I do not diagnose, treat or prescribe. I work alongside your doctor and your care team on the daily habits that support whatever they are already doing for you. If something comes up that belongs with your doctor, I will tell you to take it to them.

A plan tells you what to do. Coaching is about what happens next, on the week you are traveling, or the week you are exhausted, or the week you cannot face another salad. We work on your real life, and we adjust it together until it holds.

Because we start much smaller than you expect, and we build the habit before we add to it. Most attempts fail from doing too much at once and then losing the thread. Here you have someone checking in weekly, so the thread is much harder to lose.

It can be, and movement is one of the most valuable things you can do for your bones — but what is right for you is a decision for you and your doctor or clinician. I do not prescribe exercise plans. What I do is coach the daily habits around it: safe and appropriate movement you can keep up, nutrition, sleep, and the consistency that makes any of it count. We go carefully, we start small, and I will never suggest anything your care team has advised against.

Your sessions are one hour a week. The habits themselves are built to fit the life you already have, so most weeks they add up to a few small changes rather than a new schedule. If a week is impossible, we adapt it rather than writing it off.

No. Sessions happen by phone or video, so you can work with me from anywhere. If you are local we can talk about what makes sense.

Usually not. Coaching is not a medical service, so it is typically paid for directly rather than through insurance. We will be completely clear about the cost before you commit to anything, and you will never be surprised by a bill.

I am a Registered Nurse, with experience in hospice and behavioral health. I am a Certified Functional Health & Medicine Coach, which is complete. I also hold Master Health and Wellness Coach Training by AFIPA, GI-MAP Microbiome Diagnostic, and In-Functional Lab Analysis. I am currently completing the health and wellness coaching training that makes me eligible to apply for board certification through the National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching — eligible to apply is not the same as certified, and I am not board certified yet. I am not a doctor, a dietitian or a therapist, and I do not diagnose, treat or prescribe.

I explain the cost on the free 20 minute discovery call, before you commit to anything. I do it that way on purpose: I would rather hear what is going on with you first, tell you honestly whether I think I can help, and then give you a clear figure than quote a price into a website with no context. You will never be surprised by a bill.

Still wondering something?

The free 20 minute call exists exactly for this. You can ask me anything, including the awkward questions about cost and whether this is really worth your money.
